• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Thx Stu for the sprocket & chain info, have put both of them on my parts list

I've just imported an '84/5 AE500 and am restoring it as finances allow. Can't wait to eventually ride it..........probably a few months away yet
I've already started to break it down and am putting a lit of parts together
I want to use it rather than restore it to look at so I am going to upgrade some bits with aftermarket parts to make it more practical to use - I've read that the autos can be fairly fussy......will upload some pics as I take them

82 430-xc

A 82 430-XC project about 75 percent done.
A $300 diamond-in-the-rough find.
New 1st over-bore and lots of suspension and bearing tweaking just done.
Still need to clean up the jetting and new clutch plates.

This is a 79" Cr250 i got from the original owner back in 1981. He brought it over from Europe. I was told it has an Asche pipe on it. Completely original except seat cover and new oval plates.

Best 500 I have seen so far . Great Job!

T

Thanks!!!
Yes that is one nice machine. Are you going to ride it if so what type of riding?
Alvin

Thank you, I ride mainly hare scrambles type courses. This bike is very big for that but I have logged about 50 miles of riding in so far. Last ride out the water pump seal blew out on me. I ordered up a CNC'd aluminum cover from Halls Husqvarna to get rid of the cheesy plastic one. I just finished rebuilding the water pump assembly tonight (new bearings seals, etc). I'll be putting the cover back on tomorrow. I also got the sand casted ignition cover from Andy @ HVA-Factory. Part looks awesome. When I took the old ignition cover off though I noticed some oil pooling beind the cover. So one thing lead to another and now I'm replacing the right side crank seal and gasket. I hope to have it back together by labor day weekend as I go up to NH and camp out and ride friday through monday.

Before the season is out though I really want to take it to southwick (MX338). That's the type of terrain that the bike was made for, not new england woods haha.

Hello everyone! (First post)

My free basketcase of a project(86 WR 250), Initial pic of bike when I got it for free, tear down after way too much money put into it, and the latest re-assembly picture.

So far rode it around the block once, and it has this character other bikes don't have, but the woes are endless, you guys have no idea how many searches on the forum I have done...

I'm starting to feel that owning an 80's Husky is like being in an abusive relationship, It wears you down but you keep coming back for more.

It appears to be a 1985 or 1986 500XC. Frame was white an, engine covers semi-flat black, fenders , all plastic white

Some updated pictures of my 87 cr 430.My latest upgrades have been a Scotts steering damper,2004 Showa twin chamber forks off my Honda crf250/500 a/f conversion.Changed the front sprocket from a 13 tooth to a 15 tooth and it woke this bike up,by far the best improvement yet next to the flex bars.13x 54 was way off base for this bike in my opinion,it felt like a 250 with this gearing, now it's pulling wheelies in 3rd gear. The newer forks are nice too, alot better in the choppy stuff.
Sorry I have not been around much,on june 29th some people broke into my shop at my house and stole three bikes,my 04 Honda CRF450-500 A/F conversion I just finished,a friends 09 300xce ktm.and another 98 cr 500 honda.Thank god they didn't take the Husky.(the only bike they didn't take)We got the ktm back, and might be getting the 98 cr500 back tomorrow,as it was posted on craigs list this weekend and we have an appointment to BUY(Laughin) it tomorrow.
