    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

it's been a while since I posted an progress on my restoration, and basically that's because I haven't done much to the bike since I posted the frame pics. But I have been accumulating the bits I need/want so I thought (after being encouraged by Michel) I would post them at least....so here goes.....

Here's the new tank I bought from husqvarnaclassic.se, it's an '81-'83 WR tankSAM_1760.JPG

I got a nice expansion chamber from Andy at HVA Factory and the FMF Turbo Core 2 silencer from Bike Bandit in the USSAM_1763.JPG

I'm going with black UFO plastics to match the black painted frame which I got from......ok, I can't remember right now. And as I want to use this primarily for MX I've gone for an MX front number plateSAM_1767.JPG
 
here is my new seat base, foam and cover, for a '81-'83 CR to match the tank. These side covers are for an '83 model and as I like to see air all around the back wheel I plan to trim these down a bitSAM_1768.JPG

here is my head and block which I had bead blasted back to the alloy, same with the triple clamps. There's also a Husky logo ignition cover as well as my V-Force reed from West Coast Maico in California and the carburettor manifold adaptor from Andy at HVA FactorySAM_1770.JPG

I am still undecided as to whether I drill out the bar mount holes in the top triple clamp or machine down the bolts because at the moment they are far too fat to work. And I'm waiting for the arrival of a gold valve kit and stiffer springs from Racetech to get the forks working more efficiently.
I also intend to have the rear shocks serviced and restored and then I'm basically good to go for the rebuild.
 
finally....the rebuilding starts - I put my seat together and got it and the tank onto the frame today.....really loving the way it's looking too

I am planning to have the tank painted red but can't afford that at the moment so I just gave the tank a bit of a stell wool scrub and applied some vinyl Husky decals......

and I thought I'd post this next pic again because it so sexy :-) (and vicious, check out the teeth on those things.....)

Looks like Mr Brown and Mr Stormer will have to get themselves down to Devon for a trail ride or a hare n hounds then. Proper Husky day out :)
 
got the handlebar mount spacers drilled to take the handle bar risers bigger bolts and now that's all together......bars and risers on triple clamps.jpg
 
That bike is looking awesome. I love all original bikes but it's nice to see an original custom done with good taste. The raw metal, aluminum & black theme is going to look killer.:thumbsup:

When I was 13 My Dad bought me a 73' husky 125. It was a good handling bike but it came out the same time the honda 125's came out.. it just wasn't competitive enough . I still liked mine alot though. Huskies are solid reliable machines that you could do anything with.. They still are very cool bikes. If I remember right husky won the first 125 national championships in 73.

Cool.. lots of trick stuff there!!! So I just bought my 430 cr in my avatar. I wanted to know about the fox forks. .. What info do you have on it? I just wondered since I don't know about servicing or anything. Got any basic info or somewhere I might get some info on it? I literally just got the bike and researching. The guy I bought it from knows nothing about dirt bikes. His wife bought it for him for a "project" when he was deployed.. he just came back and he's a street bike guy. It went on craigslist and I was the first to show up. My bike has the same rear pro circuit fender and I think a 18" 2.75" rim with stainless spokes. The fox factory forks has what looks like a honda or yamaha dual cam drum brake but I'm really not sure. It reminds me of the old 465 type yamaha front brake hubs but I'm not clear on that though .
