• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Post up pictures of your vintage Husqvarna bikes!

Right 2premo. I need to see if they are the same between a WR and a CR.
I am looking at one 125 in Italy and the owner says it is a CR but I dont think so.
Do you know if they were the same ?
Thanks for helping me again
G.

the CR has the link from the backing plate to the frame to make the brakes float , the WR has a link from the backing plate to the swingarm
nothing is interchangeable between them except the swingarm itself

Hey, 2premo.
I am back to Sacramento and I wish to meet you when you are free.
Just let me know please.
Thanks
G.

the swingarms are NOT the same. i have both 86 cr and wr and they are 2 different swingarms.

This was a basketcase that I had to put together over a couple weeks (about 3 years ago). Modern rear fender, custom aluminum leg burner preventers otherwise this thing is pretty rough cosmetically.I could probably make it pretty for about $1000 including a nice aluminum tank,002.JPG but I like to ride it. (actually if wasn't behind about a dozen other bikes I could ride it tommorrow) Works extremely well in the woods. Doesn't stall, turns well, great suspension, sounds great, perfect power and it starts usually within 2 kicks hot or cold. My only complaint I can think of is you have to ride bull legged when standing ( this thing is WIIIIDE)

87 Husky Dec 2013.JPG87 Husky Dec 2013.JPG Here's my project, 1987 430XC. Bought the bike in summer '13 for $950, and have put approx. $1750 in it. New tires, tubes, brakes, rebuilt carb, top end job, hoses, rebuilt front and back shocks, new decal graphics. Compression went from 100 psi to 155 psi. Probably not worth what I put in it, but it was so much fun working on it! Too cold to ride in Missouri right now, looking forward to spring. Oh yeah, it had the original piston in it; never been bored before, and obviously not ridden much. 87 Husky Dec 2013.JPG87 Husky Dec 2013.JPG

NIce! Where are you at in Mo? I'm in St Charles Co. and ride mostly just alittle north of Rolla.

another view of my 400 Cross. Anyone that lives in the Western US, needs to race the Boise Inter AM race first week in April, 2014

Picked up this 79 390 OR a couple of days ago. Near complete runner that I'll start tearing into real soon. Not sure if I want to do a full blown resto or just fix her up for some romps in the desert/ track. I'm thinking about racing some D-37 races in the So Cal desert on it. I've wanted a Husky since the first time I saw one as a little kid, so stoked to finally pick one up. Any advice from you Husky fanatics would be greatly appreciated!

Put it up on the restoration page even if it's just a basic strip and rebuild with plenty of pics, we all love lots of pictures, and you'll get all the help you need for sure :D

Looks to be an 1980 OR,should have a #2080 engine serial number and an MN-frame,frame number is stamped right where your throttle cable is routed along plate on right side, that is certainly an 1980 OR swingarm and pipe!

My -86 435 CR that I bought a couple of years ago from the first owner in Italy......never on a mx-track or seen any dirt - unrestored and less than a hour on the engine (my guess).
My plan was to race it in the Swedish Vintage series but once the bike came "home" to Sweden again and I saw it I did'nt have the heart to take out on a track.
Currently building a copy of it instead.
:-)

Hva430CR_factory_left.jpgHva430CR_factory_right.jpg

Here's another nice Husky from my garage, a 1986 430 CR which was built by Husqvarna's competition department exactly like the GP bikes where done in 86.....which means 87-look on all plastics and some "factory-features" like the upper chain guard/roller and the plate that protects the rear brake wire from the riders foot (right behind the right foot peg, welded on the brake support rod).
This one was never intended to be a GP bike - it was built for one of the department bosses at Husqvarna Motorcycles who used it to ride for fun - it had less than 10 hours running time when I bought it two years.
The sponsor decals are an attempt to copy Peter Hansson's GP bike the same year (86) and was partly done by Peter himself back in 86.
Peter also borrowed the 430 engine to put in his 1985 250 CR chassie when we went to Vets MXdN at Farleigh Castle in 2012....the engine ran great as a race prepped Husky engine should do and Peter even took the holeshot together with Johan Boonen in the second race on Sunday. :-)
