• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Post up pictures of your vintage Husqvarna bikes!

Michel.....

There's no difference at all....more than the decal. It's a 430 cc engine but in -86 there was no 430 CR, only a 430 Enduro w/ auto and the 400 WR.
The only big MX'er was the 500 CR.....my guess is that the 435 CR was a desperate late attempt to get less experienced riders to buy an open class Husky.
Remember...times were tough for Husqvarna in 86.

Not many of these 435 CR's were built....I'll contact the museum at Husqvarna and try to learn how many...have'nt ahd the time yet though. :-)

WOW
living in Sweden obviously has some perks from a vintage Husqvarna perspective, while not jealous I am VERY impressed
jealousy nor envy is good, but I am happy for you and hope to see some more detail and pictures to go with these
what are the frame and engine numbers, what is the history, I really do tip my hat for a great find

Almost forgot....here's my current racer.......been around a couple of years now and does'nt look this good anymore.
Putting together a -83 430 CR that will be the new racer for 2014......retiring the 488 for a while.

.....and YES !! - I do Think that red Husky's are better that White when it comes to the twinshocks. :)

You might be right about red over white? I think Swedish flag for 83 but red before that, personal taste I guess but then I don't 'forget' that I own probably the best looking red twinshock Husky in existence ********************************************************************************!!

@visiteur1948......nope, that's not my bike - but it was built by a friend of mine up in Stockholm and is now sold to another friend of mine living in Denmark.

This was a 250 CR....I have two "look-a-like" bikes but they are 430 and 500 CR's.

P.s.
I was copied when it comes to the red/silver combo on an -83 bike, not vice versa ;-)

Just picked it up today. 1981 XC 430. Pretty much complete. Washed it off, took it apart, changed the oil, cleaned the carb, and it fired up.Carb looked to have about 10-15 yrs of varnish since it was cranked. So a rebuild will begin. Definitely interested in all suggestions/observations. This is my first old Husky, so I am starting from scratch. I have rebuilt several old KTM,s,so the Euro bikes aren't too scary for me.
Clutch cable is gone, but clutch lever at engine seems to move freely with no resistance, so i suspect some clutch issues. Or maybe just frozen. It is definitely engaged currently.

1981 420EA (Automatic). Not anywhere near mint condition, which is nice cause then i don't need to be afraid to get more scratches/dents. Still wanted to improve the look so cut rear fender 3", looked 30kg lighter there, trimmed the plastic to get a lighter look and bought new head light and OE front fender replica. And painted tank white as didn't like the grey color.

Pictures of my '70 400 when I got it and semi restored for vintage racing after time and money.
