  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Slip-on silencer suggestions for TE511?

How easy should the sleeve slide on and off of the Mega bomb? Should it just fall on and off? Mine seems a little tight..

Ok mine is ridiculously tight I will give it a rub with some emery, as I had it ceramic coated and it binds.

Not sure if coating the outside of the bomb area was a good idea, I purposely don't wrap mine with tape. Have to see how it runs.

I knew I should never have tried it! I warped my flange and outer sleeve by over tightening apparently. I dry fitted the MB, mid pipe and the 4.1 and it looked sexy. As I was installing it I was looking at the gauge and it seemed to stay at fifteen for several cranks then over shot the 19.18 pounds of torque. Is it fixable? Waited a week and a half for the parts. I'm going to go get a beer and drown my sorrows.

Not sure what you warped? Being that you live in socal, you can always bring your 511 by our shop and we can fix anything. :)

Hey guys, I'm new here.
I'm *this* close to picking up a TE511 in the next few days and was pretty excited until I saw a few of the posts in this thread. Now I'm under the impression that I won't be able to legally install an FMF pipe? Is that correct or am I misinterpreting what I read in post #59?

Honestly, I don't remember ever seeing a DOT sticker on any aftermarket pipe I've ever bought in the past for any of my street bikes. Would I be taking a chance running an FMF pipe on the road riding out to the desert?

I think we are all taking that chance. Its just a fix it ticket at worst, just keep your stock muffler. The 511 is a great motorcycle, I'd get one while you still can.

Another option is the TXC Akra silencer which is mellow sounding than the FMF but freer breathing than the TE muffler.....I run a modified TE muffler on the street which is a compromise I am happy with.

Awesome. Thanks, guys.

That's kind of what I was hoping to hear =)

As for the Akro, I'd love one but can't find it for less than about a grand. Is there some secret stash I could be directed to?

Geez, I feel like I'm on a gun forum asking where to find cheap ammo...

I have a TXC Akro I can sell you - PM me

I just installed the loudest possible muffler. No idea what is does for power. If I ever make it over for dyno time, I will swap it back to back with my FMF Q4.

cheaper than oem KTM parts, that's for sure. But that Outer Sleeve and flange are way over priced. Ty designed a prototype that was better and FMF manufactures the part. Hopefully I can use one of those.

Went to go pick up my new exhaust today, but it was stolen from the shop. Thankfully have one on order to pickup in a few days :)
Does Ty or FMF have any more?

Vetxracer's TE511 is now in ZipTy care. His Ti MB & 4.1 rct will completely transform his stock engine. Factory racing spring and re-valving is currently underway. Ecu flash finished, topped off with XF coolant. >>Exhaust and battery drops twelve pounds off the bike, making it lighter than a te310.<<

I can't wait!!

Those batteries are light for sure! Tinken handed me one the other day and it felt like they forgot to put the innards in it. On the wish list....

Wow, what a difference!! It feels like I hoped and then some with the new power, seat and suspension. Ty spent a half of an hour or more guiding me on clinkers, Bike set up, tire choices and other tips. Danny was great and Tinken is the man! All of this for a price that seemed like they forgot to charge me for a third of the work. Couldn't be happier with the results. The shop is super clean and is one of those places you would like to hang out talking bikes for a while. Thanks Zip Ty!!

Forgot to thank Seat concepts and BRP for getting things to Zip Ty and making my life a little to easy.

Hey Tinken, where did you install the O2 sensor in your Mega Bomb? I don't see a lot of options unless its directly behind the radiator.
