• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Thermostat Delete

Lovely piece of work.

I have dropped the price of the Thermostat Deletes down to $49.99 in order to sell off the remain stock of them. There are no plans of remaking these, so once they are sold out, that's it.

I would like to buy one... I have tried the online store.. but like some other US online bike stores do not sell out side of the US. I all so emailed using the site details. this was about 4 months ago and did not get a reply

I still want one please let me know how i can go about it.

Thank you for your order. You can always email us with your order. Kim@Ziptyracing.com can take your order. Please include your CafeHusky Discount code.

I always get several people who want something I have sold out of. When these are gone, that's it. And these make a huge difference in cooling with these bikes.

I gather that the thermostat is not replaced in the system. In colder climates I wonder if the engine would hold in the 180 degree range.

The thermostat delete does exactly that. The OEM thermostat is removed. The advantage is far better flow, and removal of an overly complicated and fragile thermostat and thermostat cage. The disadvantage is no thermostat, which is debatable on how much of a disadvantage that is depending on many factors including your particular riding environment.

I have been the the low thirties in the mornings riding technical mountain stuff. No fast stuff. It has temp stays consistent, maybe one or two bars lower is all. I do run zip ty's waterless coolant. The flow diffence can really be seen with the radiator cap off. I do notice the fans do not r un near as much after the delete.

A thermostat is not to keep the engine from overheating, it is designed and used to keep the engine from getting or running cold. I am not aware of any liquid cooled engine that was not designed and manufactured without one. That includes model T's, so it is not even an emissions argument.

It really is not debatable. It is just good responsible motor care to keep your engine running at the proper temp.

The thermostat delete is better than overheating... and that is where I shall leave it.

The radiator is very small in ratio to engine size. Your 650 engine is never going to get "too cold" once you have brought it up to operating temperature. It may take a little longer to bring up to temp during warm up, still the coolant even without a thermostat will reach normal operating temperature long before the oil does.

There are many modern engines that were designed and never came with thermostats, neither built in or external. Those that come to mind are the Yamaha 450 and 660 Grizzly and Rhino Quad/UTV engines. Hundreds of thousands sold and very popular for reliability and performance. Interestingly, they both come with massive radiators compared to what is installed on the TR650. We ride and sometimes race in very cold temperatures, yet none of our motorcycles still retain their thermostats.

With the Thermostat Delete, you have a choice of running with or without a thermostat, it merely eliminates the complicated internal one. There are thermostats which can be added externally, however, in our experience, we have yet to see the need for it.

Anyone in AUS after one of those?
I'm about to pay for an order, happy to lump in more as the O/S postage will be around the same for multiples.
Shoot me a pm if interested.
I know Luke wanted one for his Nuda 900. Would be wise for him to take advantage of the shipping.

I've been talking to Michael about the thermo delete for a while, going to be ordering a few bottles of XF2 for me and friends along with a thermostat delete... just been draggin my feet!

Don't delay!! XF2 is awesome. Got to go around the town square this week to register my TR in Kentucky.( $32.75 tag ) about 15 times at 2 mph and it never overheated! The fan would come on for about 30 sec. then shut off. No overheat warning and nothing puked and never pegged when it should have. (80 deg. day)
Don't dilly dally!!
