    Something to ponder....

Seems that KTM's head Fred is taking over Husky. Also seems there will be no shared ownership with KTM. Here is an interesting thought:

Maybe this dude will bring Husaberg with him -- sort of carve Husaberg off KTM and reunite the two brands. Pure speculation but that could be cool.

It would be great to see Husky back on top of the offroad world like they use to be.

This could be very bad for KTM and very good for Husqvarna! Lots of KTM fans were upset when Bajaj ownership went up to 47%. Wonder how they will feel if Bajaj ownership goes over 50%.

Take a look at this threaqd guys...

    http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/ktm-husqv...t.30323/page-11

Seems KTM is not actually buying Husky. What is happening is that a head mucky muck at KTM [with controlling interest in Pankl and WP] is selling his shares to Bajaj and using the equity to purchase Husky outright from BMW. No common ownership between the two.

What does this mean? Who knows -- but on the surface it appears one of the major players to KTM's success is jumping ship to try and breath more life into Husky. At least that what appears to me...

from a 12/05/12 article for an Indian news source.

    http://www.moneycontrol.com/news/wheels/stefan-piererktms-future-plans-for-india_791051.html

Q: So, do you believe Husqvarna may be on the block, up for sale again anytime soon?

    A: Anything can happen.

Q: Wouldn't you be a buyer if that were to be the case?

A: Based on our market share, we have to think about it. It's a European brand, it's a Scandinavian brand. We still have a brand in our group, it is unknown outside of Europe. It is the former spin-off of Husqvarna when Husqvarna was sold in the late 80s. They had created this spin-off. We bought that company in 1994. Meanwhile, this was integrated in KTM with a different styling with a different colour, but using a lot of platform components and therefore, it is very successful. It is already half the size of Husqvarna.

He is referencing Husaberg here me thinks.

Most CEO's in the US have a "no compete" clause in thier contracts. For example Bill Gates mostly likely cannot leave Microsoft and start another software company..at least for a specified time. Not sure how it works in Europe. If he does leave KTM and buy Husqvarna I would speculate that the gloves would definatly come off for both parties.

Looks so good in writing ...

He wanted to keep Bajaj at bay and then just tosses them the keys at a price, starts a blaze in a trash can as he leaves, and go buys another bike company that bmw just set up to some degree, to kick their butt with? You gotta luv these business guys ...
