• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1984 WR400 help

i made a halls order today. they looked up some rubber exhaust dampers for me and found one similar to the larger rear one. i bought 3 just in case i can make them fit the front, but if not then i have 2 spares for the rear.

so this means that everything aside from the front 2 exhaust dampers is purchased. clutch cable arrives tomorrow (1/8/16). i brought my original cable home so i can compare them without waiting to go to the bike.

good choice on the paste..is the oil jaso-ma rated or specifically recommeded by someone here to work??
if not you run the risk of making the clutch slip, and it can be difficult to eliminate.
plenty of oils that work have been listed here, or its been recommended plenty to find jaso-ma rated oil

if only i had a lathe!! i might be able to get access to one if its thought that a bigger shim is acceptable.. ill see how much i would need in the coming week when i get to the bike

That is awesome, Tony!
The person who owned the bike before me also an 84 wr 400 cut off the kickstand bracket! I have been looking for a kickstand and spring and will fabricate a bracket when I find one. I can use this pic as a template of sorts.

glad i could help, thats why i try to post so many pics. words are boring. if you want dimensions let me know

Phil and Andy make and sell that bracket planning on buying one of Phil's for my 87

the oil is no biggie, stationary engine oil generally has no modifiers and is a fixed viscosity and a ok for husky clutches.

ATF - type F is also good and relatively cheap

just get some jaso-ma or motorcycle oil...why so obsessed with lawn mower oil?...bizarre
Factory recommended SAE 20.
SAE 20 is no longer available so the nearest available is SAE 30 and guess who makes a supply that's readily available world wide ?
Briggs n Stratton.
Bizarre.
