  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2011 TE449 Running well with factory EFI system - finally

With this Race map 3 setting I was I told if I disconnected Loop wire in next to the battery I would lose Race Map 3 is this correct ?
If you disconnect the battery do you have the same issue ?

IT WORKS. my header pipe [titanium] had a few good dents in it I filled it with water then froze it over 3 occasions slowly the dents came out not all the way but pretty bloody good , I think if I had done it a few more times it may have ended up near perfect. Thanks for the info

how did you seal the ends up ?

9880sts I covered the end that goes into the head the other end just high in the freezer but I did not fill all the way to the top leaving about a 3-5 cms from the top . and sealing the other end with clad wrap/cling wrap the a plastic bag with a elastic band.20140504_000840.jpg

Wow... Well my original post was answering Mr Ford40 and not to you. And if you agree with me about the other stuff, why are you getting so excited?

I have sent you several pm's which you didn't answer. And while this might be entertaining to some, CH sponsors should probably not be duking it out in public forums...

Sounds good. And no duking it out just a difference of opinion. Just tired of talking about the same thing. If you read my original post I talk about richening it up. The 310 thing kind of rubbed me the wrong way but all good. Moving on now.

no, this is not true. Race map 3 (set) is in the ECU's memory and will not leave.

The reprogramming should be written into the eeprom memory.
It should stay put & still be switchable between both modes, open & closed loop.
I don't know if there are any known faults & ways for it to loose data.

My 2c

I live at 5000ft in NM. Most of the riding I do is 2nd and 3rd gear rocky and sandy single track, 2011 txc449 with JD.

I removed the butterfly. First trip out after the mod, every time I opened the throttle quickly from idle the bike would flame out. My bike didn't have this issue before. It also idled rough after removing the butterfly.

Got home and made a very minor adjustment to the air bleed screw to increase the idle speed. No adjustments to JD settings. Since then I haven't been able to replicate the flame out issue, despite trying a lot. I went from flame out very time I opened the throttle quickly to no flame outs just with the air screw adjustment. The throttle response does seem snappier but not to the extent that my bike is more rideable. I'm considering putting the butterfly back in since I'm unsure if my air bleed screw adjustment has any other impact.

Would appreciate feedback on the impact of the air screw adjustment.

Interesting to see how it is on a TXC. We don't get that model here in Aus.

The air bleed does affect mixture as well as idle speed, as it is extra air coming around the primary butterfly when opened more.
I was playing with a combination of by-pass screw & tps yesterday (to see what happened if tps was moved too far).
When I was done, I was able to find a sweet spot that was perfect for both idle speed & mixture for my own conditions by moving the two.
The butterfly out has really made a huge difference on the TE in low & middle rideability for mine.

There's nowhere near us with those altitudes (most of my local area would be less than 1000ft) but thanks for the update.
More experimenting is a good thing.

Before giving up, richen up your lower RPMs on the JD. Besides no flameouts, you might find some extra HP.
