• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

2014 Husqvarna line

So, is Husaberg gone or simply merged thru marketing? Husaberg still has a 2014 model line on their website.
The bikes look good, but barely resembles the previous generation models. I see the steel perimeter frame is similar and I see linkage. Engine looks very KTMish, I don't mind the coloring and graphics.
I guess I shouldn't have fallen off the scene for the past 6 months lol

2014 is Husaberg's last year, as they and Husky are being merged. All the Husabergs are PDS bikes and all the Huskys, except the TC85 are linkage bikes. Both Husky and Husaberg, have all KTM sourced engines. The last few years, the Husabergs have had a mixture of spec, that hey picked from all the different KTM lines.

Again I might be all alone here, but if I wanted a Husaberg I'd want to be able to buy one for what it was, everyone I know of that got one of the last ones loved it. Why not wait and release an all new Husky in 2015 rather than a regurgitated, re-badged, Husaberg that appears to be not as good as what was a Husaberg the last couple years? I hate KTM, and I'd rather buy a KTM 300 than this 2014 mutt. I love Husky and I'll be anxiously awaiting the 2015 bikes, but I think KTM made a fool of them selves right out of the gate. Brad.

What do you mean by not as good as what Husaberg was the last couple of years?
I thought they were the same as the last Berg except for the plastics, linkage and wheels.
What else changed?
 
should we assume the new Huskys will take on 'Berg geometry or KTM? i havent read anything about that yet.

also very curious about pricing.

All this speculation over the past year has clouded the issue. I noticed this morning that Husqvarna on Facebook posted up their new line. Looks good from pictures and Husaberg shows a 2014 'Enduro' line up and announcement of Husqvarna going back to Sweden and combining what was separated 25 yrs ago. A lot of smoke and mirrors I'd say.
 
They could have at least changed the shape of the plastics a little bit instead of a straight takeoff from Husaberg

Couple meaning two, a map switch and enduro computer that comes standard might be something different. The full details haven't been released and I have not really studied the owners manuals for the husabergs or experimented riding one. Perhaps he had something else in mind.

That already happened with BMW, my long time dealer left Husky, because of their new corporate model . They brought in a lot of ex KTM people and their ways too. Cagiva USA ran it like a small importer should, flexible and family like. KTM isn't going to be any worse than BMW, to US Dealers.

Norm remember when Cagiva took over from Husqvarna in July of 1986 dealers started to leave in droves they were not interested in small dealers wanted. That is why in Ohio we have 2, Michigan 2, and Indiana 1. Before Cagiva took over there where like 30 dealers in those three states. So Lets hope it's not ran like Cagiva or BMW ran dealerships and more like it was ran when Husqvarna Sweden ran it.

On the lighter side I can't wait to get some of that gear it will go great with my 87 CR 430 the last "real" Husqvarna LOL!

I think Huskies are going to be priced more like jap bikes rather than KTM. I'm to busy to go through my CSI mindset right now though, it's be like a short book lol
