  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

449 / 511 recap and info

Mine looked almost like that; a little less metal shavings .... But I was glad I changed mine at 50 miles, I will do it again at 100 and then 150 ... Also, I am using mobile 1 full synthetic oil 10w 40 ... Is this an acceptable oil for this bike? Can some one send me the link to the "oil fill" problem? I would like to not under fill the oil capacity. The dealership told me to just fill to the bottom of the site glass... I haven't had the experience with the oil blowing out through the air filter and don't want that problem ...
You may also use Mobile 1 full synthetic oil 0w40.

Many of us use this in our TE250/310/449/511's.

The filters are doing there job, no reason to change oil early. Keep the break-in oil until rings have a chance to seat. IMO

Many local dealers can load the BMW map#3. Zipty can load it through mail order.

Your online ordering says you won't ship to Canada. :(

I seriously do not trust my local dealer to do this properly. I'd like to be able to have you guys do this work.

Sure, we ship to Canada, we ship worldwide, no problem. Please post in my forums or PM me for further details.

If you don't want to deal with the border, send it to Rob Lang in London, ON. He bought my shop and has an HST tool with all the updated maps. roblang@rogers.com

Well mine may have had just a little less (~40%) than what was shown in the pix. Actually got a very small amount of residue the second change on the plug magnet. As long as it doesn't continue like that, then all is well in Huskyland.

they are not the same, but on my bike they were not t he same either? was quite surprised as I had to make sure I put them back in the same holes, though they using the same hole in the drawing for each filter

You got it; the manual is using the same hole with both screens!! Very stupid; maybe I should cram both screens into the same hole...seriously didn't know which to put back into which hole - luckily I am anal about placement upon dis-assembly...then I began to question the direction of the screens if the idiots who wrote the manual got the placement wrong who knows what else they screwed up....
