• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Actual news on the KTM purchase of Husqvarna

To take it just a little farther Back in 2008 My 2008 Stock Husky CR 125 Geared DOWN to 13/52 with its 6 speed had a top speed faster then just about any jap 2 stroke 250 out there racing the Nationals H&H . Yes I won the # 1 plate that year in the open class on the 125. I tried to retire that bike but some crazie mountain man made it a 165 and I raced it 2 times this year winning Last Dog standing and finishing King of the moto. But wait the Mt man has my motor again and I will ride it again at the 2014 KOM
The poor little OLD Husky really needs to be retired but it just will not quit. I ride the 300 most of the time these days and it also will not quit. NOW the question of the day I will get a new Husky when they arrive but in a few years will I be able to say I had the same results.

John every time I read your exploits, the more I realize that you really are twisted man!! hahaha

Additional- Johns WR(CR)300 is siiiick guys it is fast, it is slow, its a ripper, its a low end torquer, its a high speed dez sled and low speed mountain goat, it rips through super ugly rocky sharp HS Comp stuff and powers through sand like a boss, the suspension is nutty good and motor is smooth as glass, its an old school engineered extraordinary motorcycle, Ive ridden 2013 300 katos that dont perform like the Husky300 in the all around arena that Johns bike performs in. its an amazing bike, really. I dont know how much more I can stress how good the thing works.

I'm a 59 year old man, who has only ridden a KX250 once in my life and was never more glad to get back on my WR125, after riding it. That said... I think a multi mile stretch of sand road in a South Jersey Enduro, tapped out, trying to get back on time, is probably a more appropriate challenge than an open section of a Hare Scramble track.

Open Stretch? There are few races in Arkansas, Mo, TN & Mississippi that are open. Over in Oklahoma and TX - That's different. Ever heard of the Ozarks - Very hilly, rocky and tight. There are only a few races that you can really open a bike up in the AXC or AHSCS series. Want to go fast or air out the Open Class bikes - go to the OCCRA series or TORO series down in TX. But, I still don't under stand why you think a WR300 is slow. If so, a KX250 2T is slower - at least around here. I think I might have to do a Video and post it. A little pasture drag racing if you will.

hay captin u ever ride chadwick wher n Arkansas r u

Hey Troy - Do you ride any of the Mhsc races or MORE series? How about HBGP series. I've been wanting to come up there and ride one of those. I did ride the 9 hour (really 6hr) Off-Road cup at Weldon, Mo back in March - That was about the toughest race I've ever done.

Sorry but my 00 and 05 KX250's both had more motor than my stock 2010 WR300. It needed help.

MXA's dyno reassures me that I'm not crazy, 42hp. For MX use I found the WR's power delivery really missing something.

For safety - they "De-tuned" Huskies going to Canada. :D

Yep that 6 speed gave those older WR's crazy top speed. I have vivid memories of doing 90+ on my 360 on one mile long straight at Bend a few years ago. Scared the crap out of me as I couldn't back off with the little whoops at that speed and my talent level. It also created a dust trail seen from space.

Yup, and what about the barbed wire fence? Trail 10?
HaHa that was a fun gathering. :)

yes we do all the more and an hbgp ever now n then the collins rounds are at are place and the training grounds at ELDON is a great place im 45 miles from chadwick

I'll call BS on this one ... I rode my 02 CR250 Husky against 2 250 kxs... Never had one whip me or even get a good whiff of my Husky in numerous drag races and I never changed changed pistons while both the kx went through at least 1 piston each, 2 for sure in one of them. They also had a bucket full of broken lever perches that busted over and over. Busted right off the bar and it ended the riding for them more than once for those cheap light bikes. Rims bent on the kxs also ... They seemed to have weak bars as I saw 2 sets or so that bent from crashes ... Never bent the Husky bars and I crashed back then also.

One question: Are you pinning that 300 because I don't think so...

Those kxs are dead and gone quite possibility... That Husky is still stomping around out there in the PNW I bet.

It seems from this statement that your HS Series are very different, from riding an ECEA Enduro.... We'll leave it at that.

Pretty much all 250 and 300 2 strokes are fast. I have ridden many KX, WR, KTM YZ etc and they are all fast. I bet they are all within a few HP of each other. Always thought the YZs had the best motors. KXs are fast, so are WRs. Aust mag did a test on all the 300's including the TM and KTM and the WR was said to be the strongest of them. No real need to argue about it.

there are many many factors to think about here guys, gearing for a big one, jetting, fuel mixtures, temp, altitude, tire dia, RIDER, tuner, ignition, etc etc etc. its not worth discussing without real test data and scientific method.
All things being OEM all you need to do is the math, gearing commander, and will the OEm bike HP run the bike to redline RPM in all gears (parasitic drag is everywhere-chain, gearbox, oil wt, aerodynamics, tire pressures etc). my tuppence. moot point at this time really.
We need to get back on the Pierer Industrie purchase of Husqvarna brand name.

Seems I have hurt your feelings a little - If I have, I'm sorry - I didn't mean to. I obviously just have a different perspective. But, It' s all good because its about riding dirt bikes.
