• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Actual news on the KTM purchase of Husqvarna

...after a statement posted on the network...
What 'Network'?

It would be great to have the original text as opposed to a websites interpretation, then translation via a search engine (in this case, google).

Also, it’s amazing to think that Bajaj will share their parts with motorcycles that sport Husqvarna and KTM tags. But in a world that relies increasingly on perception rather than actual differentiation, it’s the done thing to do, we suppose. It’s a win-win situation, especially for customers, and we’re really looking forward to seeing how India benefits from all this sharing.

AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHHH! I freakin knew it! I'm gonna have to call Mumbai, New Dehli, or some other place to order Husky parts. Who cares how well India benefits? It's gonna suck for the rest of us.
Hello, this is husvarna ktm verizon atnt help desk, how is it that i can help you today sir?

These 2 statements have 100% correlation.
Oh, I didn't realize that these
Stefan Pierer said:
Husqvarna's focus has wandered...Husqvarna is not prepared to market multicylinder street motorcycles
were uncontrolled rumors. They seem to be pretty clear statements from the guy that bought the company.

I could be wrong.

They were indeed crystal clear statements with zero ambiguity.

Might be fun to point out all the inconsistent and conflicting statements made in the several interviews that were given to European websites/magazines... or I could spend my time doing something more useful.

What's going on here, I thought Husqvarna was a Sweedish enterprise, not Italian? Whose this Pierer guy, sounds French to me?

Since we're all still speculating...
...Husaberg will be folded back into Husqvarna, leaving KTM and Husqvarna. KTM will remain the high price point model line, Husqvarna will be positioned to compete directly on price/performance with the Japanese bikes. SP will follow the same strategy he used to grow KTM, expand the dealer network and develop bikes for racing. Take market share from the Japanese bikes by investing in racing. He knows racers sell bikes.

Husky has a lot of good things going for it, a few more steps and it could happen.
Dave
I agree with you on your speculation, but Husqvarna will host the new products and features before being implemented into the KTM models making it the premier line for new technologies. This will be a very good thing for previous owners bringing up the value of the Husqvarna brand as well as of all previous models.

There'll be a 650-690cc supermoto

I was thinking that is one way to create differentiation... KTM has 350 and 450......so make Huskys 390 or following more recent tradition 411s that are really 377cc. And put it in the CTS chassis.... Instead of a 690 then 650 or back to 630... Not much to be done on that front at the 125 and 250 level since those are class based and ya need all the size you are allowed.

HUSQVARNA WILL FIELD A GP TEAM IN 2014

Don’t expect a big team, but KTM’s Pit Beirer told MX Large that there will be a Husqvarna motocross team in the 250 GP’s next year (and Beier ought to know since he runs KTM's racing program). Berier says that the new Husky team will not be expected to win the GP’s, but they expect to sign riders who will make the top ten. Beirer also said that Husky will be its own brand—not to be confused with new owner KTM (and that the bikes will probably still be produced in the Varese, Italy, factory as opposed to at KTM’s factory in Mattighofen).
