• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Golden Tyre GT216AA review

Another great day this last Saturday with the 216. I've been experimenting with tire pressure and am finding that while lower psi (8-10) yields stupid good grip, but the soft sidewalls make it easy for a pinch flat. Also noticed that going with 15 psi it just starts to get a little loose, but still better than I'm used to. It seems that 12-13 is just about right for me. Also did 14 asphalt miles to get my new Akro slip on dialed the weekend before and it actually felt pretty good, however I sure wouldn't want to make hard turns.

What size tube is everyone using in this? Will a 80/100 tube work? 90/90? Not seeing any options for 90/100 tube.

I use an 80/100 HD Bridgestone tube.

Thanks. I mounted today with a 80/100 tube (Kenda Tuff tube, it was what I had), seems to be filling it up fine. I was concerned that the 80/100 tube would be too strained to expand enough to fill up the massive void of the GT 216AA. First ride on it on Saturday!

being more like a 100/100 is becoming less appealing... I dont like the feel of wider tires in the front or rear....

When I mounted mine Per the official instructions from Zip Ty Racing I used a new 90/100 michieln mousse then took a hack saw cut the new mousse and added between 5 to 6 inches from another new mousse to it
I then went out and Won round 9 and 10 of the National Hare and Hound I have 3 different husky a 165,a Wr 250 and a CR 300 all with the fatty tire mounted this way. In the last few months and with many rides on all 3 bikes everything is working fine. all the tires look great For me I do not think I could ever use a tube again I mount it mousse style and ride it anywhere hit anything and never worry about a flat

I have a 80/100 Mousse that is new and another new 80/100 . How much should I add?

cut the mousse grease it up shove it in, then push as hard as you can on the ends to open a space between the cut off ends then cut a section from the other that is an inch or 2 more than the gap you just opened, grease the heck out of the section, open the space back up and jam it in. It actually was easier than I thought, and I actually cut my section a little short and ended up added another 3in section into the gap. Its working fine.

the difference between a 80 and a 90 really is not that much try maybe 7 to 8 inches BUT use a lot of the Enforce tire soap which Zip Ty sells do not use the mounting gel which comes with the mouse use the tire soap
Then go ride the heck out of it worry free

You can not use to much tire soap really coat both the tire and the mousse Also use gloves as the soap will really dry out your hands

Might any good tire paste be OK to use as I have a bucket of http://www.jtmproductsinc.net/murphys_europaste.html. Was thinking about trying a pair of Mousses at some point.

I have used the Murphys soap it was ok but not as good as the enforce soap if you have the white Murphys paste I have seen it fail it just is not like the soap Just order some soap from zip Ty Racing and not worrie about it
If you try mousse you will never go back to a tube again once you learn how to do them it is easy and then it offers you a great worry free ride
We spend over $ 10,000 for a well set up new bike and then ride around with a spare tube and tire tools on our back or close to our ride area just incase Really

Well, I'm going back to a pirelli scorpion. I couldn't gel with the golden tire. I have 3 rides, about 100 miles on it. Still looks new. If anyone is interested. pm me
