• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Out and About (Terra, Strada)

Some of those place names are familiar. Certainly went to Musselroe Bay. Spent most of the time on dirt - some of it open gravel roads but also a fair bit of tougher stuff.

Based out of Branxholme for several days, also Bicheno and Miena.

Spent quite a few evenings here at the Imperial Hotel in Branxholm. New publican (Bill bought the place 5 days before we arrived) is bike friendly and a thoroughly nice guy

Captains Creek is notorious for that...and after all the rain we've had out east last night, no surprise. Might've seen some water at Wombelano Falls then!
How was that hill on Pauls Ln.? Still remember ploughing down that thing sideways on the Strom with a mounting pile of mud building ahead of me :lol:

If you’re talking about the hill on PFF Track, dang that thing is steep and slippery! I’ve got Mitas E07 back and front and the front is way past it’s wear limits - I seriously struggled through that section

That's a nice corner there with good views across the Yarra Valley.
Not the PFF, just the little hill near the Toolangi Vineyards. It had the "no-thru" signs on it for years and coming from the north the climb was a bit rocky but fine, the drop on the other side had about 2-3" of loose, powdery earth on top which had gotten saturated with rain and turned into a sloppy snot you could barely stand up in. One of the times the bike took me for a ride. :-)

woewww mine it is already 68.583 km. no problem. just too vibes.

i will like to know what do you think about teh new KTM 790 ADVENTURE. IT is a good sustitute of Terra 650?. let me know what else . thanks Terra fans

Imho there are very few replacements of the Terra currently available. The Husqy 701 is too expensive and teh standard tank is too small. The AJP and CCM are also a lot more expensive than the Terra was. The Himalayan is a lot less powerfull. The 790Adv isn't available yet, nor is the Yamaha T7.
The only thing that comes close in my opinion is the SWM Superdual.

i agree, but if new KTM 790 adventure weight is going down 200kg will be a nice option.

oh man, i miss the hills and the bush so much. Ducked out for a few days into the Texas hill country which was nice. Found a place (Enchanted rock) that looked a bit like there just doesn't smell right and all dirt roads seem to be private property. Hi lads....Just a quick note to share with people who understand (pointless otherwise)...Just fell in love with my bike again. Hadn't ridden off road for a while . Just returned from a thought investing solo trip to Flinders Ranges in Sth Oz.
Loaded to the gills ... water (have a survival straw but then again you need to find water to use it!!) ,extra fuel , food etc. Mitas EO-9 on rear and Continental enduro front.
The only issue is the 500km tar to get there .
Even loaded up had no issues ,power aplenty, grip to cry for given the circumstances.

Intentions next trip...Take my usual pillow (dont care about weight for that idea!!!:D)
May invest in upgraded suspension,at least rear
Lighter tent and lighter air mattress (yeah ,I know I am)
Dont forget coffee, beanie, and thongs (flip flops for US types)..
Water proof my accessory lights (rained for whole 500km outbound)
Get smaller gas burner
More fuel

But otherwise as you will all agree ..theres something that develops inside oneself and so worth the aching muscles.
BTW thanks to all with ongoing helpful hints on this site.
