• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Post up pictures of your vintage Husqvarna bikes!

Working on getting one I can ride. Where can I find a list of vintage events in the area for nex year?
Look at the NETRA website. This Sunday NETRA is going to adopt the rules and schedule for a full Vintage Series. Also get on NEDB or New England Dirt Bikes. Most of the vintage riders are on the forum there. I have an 82 390 Hybrid that runs that I may consider parting with. Would make a great racer if you like a long bike in the woods. Needs little to be finished. There are other bikes out there so let me know what size/brand you are looking for.

Looks good, I will check it out, thanks.

All went well. NETRA approved the series and now a small commitee is going to guide it. I am on the commitee and it looks like 12 events now and more possibly. Lots of places to ride vintage bikes with other vintage bikes!

Really nice mid and top end on my 87 250.
Tried them in the 86 400 too, noticeable gains all around over the boyesen reeds and way better that stock.

Here's a photo of my 73 250 CR. It had a minor restoration done to it prior to me buying it but I'm in the process of going deeper. The motor is at Vintage Husky being completely rebuilt and I'm tracking down and replacing as many of the OEM parts as I can. For instance the triple clamps had been replaced at some point so I found original ones and swapped those out. I am currently tracking down shocks and I pretty much have everything else. After the motor comes back and its up and running and mostly original I'll focus on restoring the tank and wheels.

My Huskys.

First is my AHRMA vintage racer – MK Frame with six-speed GP motor. Motor has been lowered and triple clamps modified to reduce rake. The bike handles great and I swear a devil lives in this motor. Its an absolute blast to ride. AHRMA officials say I'm only allowed 3 1/2 inches of rear travel (WTF?) so they make me install spacers on the shock shafts. Bought the bike pretty much as is. Moving up to expert class so I finally mounted new Michelin rubber. Can't wait…

Next is a recent acquisition – 1982 430CR. I picked up this bike for next to nothing. The early 80s is when the dirt bike bug hit – a passion that never left. I had an issue of Dirt Bike magazine from Sept. 1981. I was all over the 80cc Shootout and they raved about the KDX175 (a KDX200 was my first new bike) but the bikes they talked-up the most were the Husqvarna 250CR and 430CR. Out of my means at the time but, damn, they were cool!

This one needs to be gone through, taken apart, inspected, painted, suspension freshened-up, etc. The motor has good compression. It started. It even has brand new, though unusable Metzeler Unicross tires (shot from years of sitting.) My big question is do I need to replace the main seals now? My goal with this bike is to run it in vintage hare scrambles. Since I have more time than money at the moment, this restore will take some time. I plan to document in the Restoration section. This site is a great resource.

this is my new to me 79 390 cr. I don't know a whole lot about husqvarnas, just some reading ive done on the net. if anyone has any good info on this particular model, I am all ears. I have yet to start it, I just haven't had time to tinker with it yet, but it sure looks like a beast to get going!

1974 250 CR, have had it about 6 months. Race CALVMX in San Diego/San Bernardino area. Up graded the suspension for my weight. Handlebar risers, At the moment, the engine is out and being completely gone through. In the future, want to upgrade pipe, rims.
