• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Post up pictures of your vintage Husqvarna bikes!

Here is my 1976 175 Cross Country I picked up a few months back. I've restored and raced several Pentons but have always wanted to do a mid to late 70's Husky as a 1978 390 OR was my first good dirt bike.

This is how I got it, mostly complete but not very pretty.

My plan is to use for a few AHRMA cross country and ISDT Reunion Rides. I've been fitting a few new pieces and making adjustments before doing a full tear down and restore. So for I'm really liking the little 175.

how do you like the dynoport? have you rode it with it?
Yeah its a good pipe, it gives a good wide and strong powerband, build quality is great. However the bike is missing the power valve, so low down isn't great, but with the six spring clutch gear selection is slick, the bike is really easy to keep where the motor makes peak power. Wish I could say the same about my CR500!

cool, curious as i have a very similar bike. mine never had the power valve thankfully. i love the dynoport on my newer husky.

These pipes are good, I have one one my 500 too. Rich at DP said it is actually designed for the 430cc stroke motor, but fits straight in and it still works really well, the power on the 500cc motor is just throughout the range, really punchy response, but the heavy clutch is a nightmare really! I'm hoping to find a 87/88 430/500 trans so I can swap in the 6 spring clutch basket, but they are so rare. Then the 500 would be my first choice for evo motocross for sure!

oh and i replaced the silencer with a sparky so it would be legal in the woods, still have the original silencer set aside
where did you get your tank decals mine are pretty rough at this point
