• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Welcome to the forum! Introduce yourself here!

New guy

Hi everyone,

New to the forum. I have an 08 TE510 which I love and live North of Atlanta GA.

VT newbie

Owner of a 09 txc 450-ridden in th dealerships driveway and thats it! I have wanted one since 1980...............
No riding last year due to engine failure on my 525 EXC, so from orange to red and white. I'm very excited about the development of husqvarna here in the northeast, and look foward to contributing to cafe husky! Thanks.

Hello,

I have been visiting for a while...finally decided to register! I am more of a vintage Husqvarna fan, but the new bikes look great! Look forward to discussing everything Swedish...er, Italian, with everyone!

Welcome to CafeHusky, VTtxc!

Wow...you missed a whole year of riding due to a blown engine?? That's pretty harsh! You need to have a spare in the garage. One can never have too many bikes:p

Welcome, Motoduc84! And congratulations on getting out of "lurker" mode:lol: We're glad to have you here:cheers:

You might want to add "German" to your list of things you want to discuss, too, now that BMW owns Husqvarna:D I know it's silly, but I like the fact that my `07 SM610 says "MV Agusta" all over it:p

Hello - Belen, New Mexico

Hello:

I'm a new member - getting back to dualsport riding after a 30+ year hiatus (but "Howard70" isn't my age...). First bike was a Honda Trail 90, then a Hodaka Ace 100, then a Penton Six Day which i crashed badly in 1971 just before graduating from high school. No motos after that until early this year when I started riding again on a KLX250s. After a couple of camping trips on that bike, I realized I needed more power for long trips and thus the 2008 TE610.

The TE is currently fairly stock, but I'm slowly outfitting it as a light weight dualsport for long-range, self-supported backcountry camping trips. I've reinforced the sub-sub frame (whatever the proper name is for the small frame of flat stock that supports the rear of a rack and the tail light license assembly), installed Dirtbagz, and am looking for good means of increasing fuel capacity.

Thanks for the great site,

Howard L. Snell

Hi, Howard! Welcome to CafeHusky:cheers:

Wow...from a KLX250s straight to the top, eh? Congratulations:thumbsup:

I use my SM610 as a long-distance dualsporter and have been very pleased with it. I have a carb'd model and thus am able to run IMS's 5gal tank. I will carry a 1gal can on my ProMotoBillet rack when the need arises for more range, a conservative guess of 240 miles. I hope IMS or someone comes up with a big tank solution for the FI 610's.

Welcome and congrats on the new bike, Grump! You might need to change your username once that 610 shows up:pWoodsChick

The name means nothing as I am seldom "grumpy". :) But the bike has arrived and I have rode it. Woohoo! I had a 1986 XT600 years ago (in 1986 in fact) and was currently riding a DRZ400 (still keeping it) but this Husky rules.

I bet your odo on the DRZ doesn't change much over the next year:D

Hello All,

Great site, lots of good info for HVA newbies.

Done 400k's on an 08 TE250. Bought it to ride single tracks (Kangaroo Trails really) in the Southern Forests of Western Australia. Had intended to use it to get me to some remote trout streams but have enjoyed it so much the fly rod gathers dust while I make some.....

I have enjoyed the first few hours on the bike so much I encouaged a mate to come for a ride, he now owns a TE450.

These things are addictive, I wait with anticiptation for he release of the 310 in AUS, I figure the boys ( I have two) will enjoy the 250while I use them as an excuse to move up the food chain.

Sounds like you've got it all figured out:lol:

I'd love to ride Australia someday. A friend of mine has ridden there and he said it was awesome. Post up some photos of the kangaroo trails, will ya? We like the wild horse trails here in the western US, and I'm curious to see what your trails look like.

Hello all -
I live in N Michigan (Land of the Wind Chill Factor) and have played with motorcycles in the dirt for a while. I'm without a dirt bike at this time and am watching the market for what is new this next season. My pal SkyWalker has a new 510 Husky (and many others!) and it makes me tingle a little when I get near it.
The trails up here are wonderful and deserve a visit from any serious D/S rider.

:cheers:Back on a Husky! Started my vintage racing days on a 73 Husky CR250 and 82 XC430 and later on a 73 CR450 Husky up at Woodland, Washington. I've recently picked up an 07 TC450 that will end up being another woods bike, I also have a WR250f with a 290 kit. We have a Husqvarna dealer down here so parts and stuff are taken care of. :applause:

I'm glad I'm not the only one that gets all tingly in the presence of a totally cool motorcycle:D

I used to have a WR250f, too, and I bet it would have been a lot more fun with a 290 kit in it:D
