  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2013 TE449 Power up?

Tinken,
I was told that map3 would not install on the ECU on my 2011 SMR511, and that it would only work on TE and TCs. Do you know if that is true?

I think the TE and SM are virtually the same engine wise. My 2011 TE511 was just remaped by the good peeps at Zipty and the difference is outstanding. Smoother right off idle, revs quicker, has a good bit more mid and a lot more top. Very nice, was not expecting that much gain. My opinion on MY bike.

Haha, some random comedy was needed amongst the confusion. They're all the same except for the TC's efi system.

I believe you can remove it. BUT, I'm not sure why you would wish to. The throttle body on the te/txc's were created in order to provide output power in a more linear fashion. I'm sure we all remember the progressively opening carburetors on the XR's, kind of the same concept. While the output power on the TC's is more abrupt. At least this is how it was explained to me.

Rob Lang in London has an HST tool. Why don't you see if he can reflash yours. He is doing my 449 this am.

got a real dirt ride in, Gnarly single track with big loose climbs, blown out single track, hard stuff. The ECU remap made this stuff so much EZer. The glitch free flame out proof bottom end was super welcome. The big power though needed to be respected or things got scary quick. Smother and much more controlled off the bottom, way more mid and top end power. the thing is seriously FAST now. Like  fast. Buddy with a TE310 said he thought the EFI is perfect now (it is) and is on a mission to make his 310 half as good.

Tinken can a 2011 TE310 be remapped and if so will the results be similar? He already got the FMF powerbomb from you but has not installed it yet.

The big boy showing the little guys that a big 4 stroke when setup right can git-r-dune. It felt like a magic carpet ride with a rocket strapped to it. Thought I would really miss my 165 on this ride but was not missing it at all. Scotty, warp speed please.

I have a 2013 TE511 with the same occasional flame out and slight popping issue. I saw the BMW #3 map on Zip-Ty racing. Is that with the FMF slip on the easiest fix or should it include the JD tuner? Also would the FMF header help? It would eliminate the O2 sensor and looks cool!!, sorry, had to add it.

For sure let ZipTy remap the ECU. Inexpensive and huge gains and how it runs and power.

I think you should get the FMF slip on, there are other full exhaust systems out there, but that one is easy. At this point, the JD is really unnecessary. Map set #3 is more than just a fix for popping and flame outs. It's a brand new fuel map curve and is going to change the entire power delivery to your 449/511. You will see gains off the bottom and afterburners on the top.

If you want to see the kind of gains you are experiencing, then he is going to need PCV, especially with that megabomb to tune it. You can download our factory race maps from our forums. One of those Factory 4.1's wouldn't hurt either.

Well... you have to solder across E11 and E15 and dial back the Rms voltage until you reach 0.031 volts...

haha, just kidding. no soldering. I can do it no problem.
Had me for just a second. That is crazy funny. I will find out Tuesday if my dealer can do the Map 3. If not I am mailing it in. I like the switch idea. Did you say you get better MPG with the non race mode? I am thinking about the nomad tank. I would really like 120 plus range. Today I got 37 MPG not enough for my needs.

Race map set #3 really makes the TE and TXC's run the way they were intended to regardless of the exhaust you have mounted. Even better than the TC's imo. If you run map#1 with the new set, the O2 sensor still functions with better mpg's, map 2 is full race. I have a handlebar switch that toggles between the two.
Other items might include key switch, bags or you might want to look into purchasing some double take mirrors if you intend to mix mirrors with trail riding.
Tinken, how do I get a switch to go between the 2 maps

Thanks for the info. I took it out to my local motocross track and in stock form it was motocross worthy. Can't wait to set it up the suspension and get the map and exhaust.

Thanks, I was skeptical about the remap stuff (ignorant really) until Whittier Honda remapped my CRF450R after I put a Yoshimura exhaust on. Smother, better and more power all through the power band. I'm a believer but still ignorant.

Finally got some goodies in...I only have 225 miles on it; I wonder if it would be okay to put on the pipe, programmer, autotune before the 500 mile break in? Not sure I read anything about a 500 mile break in; it just seemed like a good number to me lol. I am still learning on this bike and I wonder if I should give it some more time before I throw caution to the wind and install these. I hear that they really wake the bike up....only one way to find out i guess.
