• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Actual news on the KTM purchase of Husqvarna

this italian company just recently bought the rights to some husqvarna bikes. the deal is only a few weeks old, so obviously the shown bikes are actually huskys with different stickers. according to them, they will produce the bikes using the same suppliers as the husky bikes.

r

coffe, feel free to put these postings into a separate thread, if you wish

 I wish they would buy the rights tot he X-light platform and 449 platform

- If you look up Shineray it comes up a Chinese company. "Shineray Motorcycle Company is a leading Chinese motorcycle manufacturer of ATVs, dirt bikes, street bikes, and CUBs with engine displacements ranging from 50cc-400cc. " :banghead:

Correct. They've been making motocross bikes a couple of years now. By all accounts they are actually pretty decent quality and awesome bang-for-buck. So maybe it's not a bad thing that they've bought the rights to these Husky platforms. At a minimum it means cheap availability of spares for current owners of these bikes.

it's funny (and not so funny) that these Indian/Chinese companies can flat-out-copy, yet it's glaringly evident they have NO sense of true aesthetics in design.

sad. thumbs down. sigh.

Well it seems at least these guys bought the rights. That said I don't like to give my money to the chinese. Nothing personal just not where I want my money to end up if I can help it. Thats said i would love to see some italian company make some progress with the italian husky designs.

Looks like our "Huskys" will say KTM all over them...

I really liked that association.
Too be honest, I have mixed emotions about it, at this point in time..... The Castiglioni's obsession with reviving MV Agusta was the ultimate undoing of our beloved Husqvarna. Constantly being cash strapped, by pouring buckets of money into a very high priced/low volume motorcycle, led to the sale of Ducati and then Husqvarna to BMW. This takes us to where we are now, good, bad or indifferent, depending on your point of view.

Don't get me wrong, I love MV Agusta and have since I was a motorcycle crazed kid. Surtees, Hailwood, Agostini, were all childhood heros on their MV's. If I had mega bucks... a 2000 F4 would be sitting in my living room right now!
