• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Golden Tyre GT216AA review

I've just fitted up a set of Bridgestone battlecross tyres in the X30 medium compound.
I havn't tried the GT range to compare (they are a little hard to get near me), but these new Bridgestones were awesome in our local aera last week which included wet gravel, mud, wet river rocks, clay & loam. Total confidence in the grip by days end.

I noticed on Ty's website they have the GT257. I want to replace the Dunlop 606 I have on the rear. Is the diameter similar to the 606 or the MT43 ?
The GT257 is a hybrid trials tire, so it would be similar to the MT43 with the exception that it will work in mud and sand.

It's just about as wide, but it's got a more round profile. I'll try to get a side-by-side photo tonight if interested.

You try just the rear MX52 or front also... I want a tire I can get without having to use different tire in a pinch.....

Yes, I have tried them as well as many others. Nothing compares to the 216. Usually when you are racing, you have two or three different front tires to match the terrain. Since the 216 works the best for me in all terrains, I just keep a couple of them on hand so I am never without.

I would like to see a side by side if you don't mind.
Thanks
Looks like the MT43 is wider than a GT 257. So is a MX51. (EDIT: I just realized, I'm not sure the dimensions of the MX51 I'll update this post when I get home)

From left to right MT43 (in this pic, the MT43 on the left is closer to the camera), GT 257, and for reference MX51 (not mounted):

I like the looks of that GT.
Looks a bit like a Dunlop AT81 RC. Really good tire.

Don't let the knob spacing on the 257 fool you. Trials tires have thin/pliable carcasses enabling them to stretch around and grab surfaces. Something you won't get from a motocross tire. With the 257, you loose a little grip, but it won't clog up on you in the mud like a normal trials tire.

Tinken I have my Goldens all mounted and ready for this weekend King of the Moto do you have any Golden Tyre Stickers you would want me to put on Biggest Sticker on my bike so far is Zip Ty Racing DSC03437.JPG

subject change-ZTR stickers.....your ZipTy stuff rocks, your stickers suck. All of mine have peeled off, please get 100% vinyl type or other plastic type. Or just send me more!!

I meant that directed to Tinken, those ZipTy Racing stickers look great but have like a paper type backing and peel during washes and on the trail.

I ran a Golden 216 AA 90/100/21 on the front and a 216 140/80/18 with a drilled mousse at King of the Moto Yesterday The front tire worked great it would roll over rocks and had super support on the down hills. The Rear tire was lets just say a cheater took it works so well there is really nothing I can say to describe it you just have to try one. If you are trying to climb a rocky section it will work better then the rider as was my case. The bike was set up and worked great all day I just was to slow to get to finish the afternoon race .

I just mounted two; TE310 and 650 Terra. Taking the 310 out on Wednesday for some sand and rocky trails. The Terra will be on a multi thousand mile ride in two weeks. No idea what to expect on that one but we will find out!

Did you mount the 216AA 90/100 on the stock 1.6x21" rim on the 310R?
