• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Post up pictures of your vintage Husqvarna bikes!

In the video, after I made the pass I started staring at the guy ahead of me instead of looking beyond for a place pass...Oh well, I'll get 'er done next year.

I wanted to pass that dude so bad I almost did it for you****************************************!! At least we didn't have to look at the dude in the green Jersey for to long!!!

Great Vid!

This is my bike I bought back in 1990. I let it sit comfortably on the beer keg for many years. I decided to attempt to do a refurbish I wouldn't dare call it a restore, this bike is gonna get hopefully alot of trail time.

Skoalman,
I wanted you to pass that guy SO BAD!! Looks like a tough track to pass on, though, so good job with green jersey. Was that your 250 or 400?

Hi Dave J

Back in 76 I bought my first road bike (moped really) Suzuki AP50 from Rumbold (as we knew him) from Westbury Motorcycles. At the time. if my memory serves me correct, Neil Hudson was his workshop mechanic. Neil had been offered a factory Husky ride back then but turned it down. Neil doesn't live too far from me so I'll ask why next time I speak to him.

I suppose the fact that I spent a lot of time in Rumbolds garage amongst Huskys that it was then I became infected :) This is one affliction I'm quite happy to bear....

I have attached a couple of pics from my racing days.....

Great photos Stu. Do you still have the gear? I "raced" (sort of) in the early '90s, but I don't think lime green and flourescent pink is coming back into vogue any time soon :busted:

I have most of the gear..... certainly the last lot.. JT jeans (with name on back) AXO boots... the helmet in the pics is long gone... don't remember where that went... might be in the loft..

I was lucky enough to be on a business trip stateside and brought back a JT ALS-1 (which I believe was the first in the country at the time..) which I still have in good condition.

I'm planning on doing some vintage races next year once my 500 has been rebuilt and I plan to slim down a bit (Wife is not convinced) to get back into my JT's.... :)

Vintage racing is as much about the gear as well as the bike.... so Lime Green and Flourecent Pink is still in...

1974 cr250

Waited many years for this bike. Larry Stahl built it and it was worth the wait.

This is my 1978 CR 250. Stock except for the shocks and seat cover.

Interesting story. Bike was purchased from bankrupt dealer, back in '78. It was missing a couple of pieces: rear wheel, Maguras, maybe something else. Apparently, as the dealer was going belly-up, he simply took parts from it to sell to customers who needed the items.

Anyhow, the dealership sold it to an enthusiast with lots of bikes. Great guy, but never had the time to chase down the replacement items, so he never rode...didn't even start it up. I learned about it, but before I could assemble the funds, it was sold, around 1999. THIS owner found the parts, replaced them, rode it a few times...then realized that it wasn't for him. Sold it to me the next year.

So, I've owned it since 2000. Raced it evolution class a few times.

Many folks told me to park it again. Make it a museum piece, etc. I told them that this bike was built to be a racer and that it had served its time in a cage. I felt like an emancipator, returning a caged animal back to the wild! It's got its dings and nicks now, but, like a kid with a well-earned black eye, this Husky is just glad to be outside playing again!

It was tougher than I thought too. I was riding my 400 -- I hadn't ridden that bike in over a year...I thought I could pass more guys too, but got a horrible start...But these ISDTRR events are about finishing...So had I blown a corner or stalled, I would've never gotten a medal...You know the ol' sayin' -- you gotta finish to win...I'm lookin' forward to next year'd AHRMA Nationals but I'm not sure which Husky I'll be riding

hey I just joined this discussion group and wanted to test out the picture feature.

I get the things going and either ride or move on to another project nothing here is immaculate.

this one is an ebay engine which was lightly in a house fire a frame which has been to the blackwater 200 and the rest from either the 430 which went to blackwater or a 250 parts bike all 1988.
